Think laundry detergent sheets are the only eco-friendly option? Not quite.
Here’s the part most brands won’t tell you: nearly all laundry sheets contain polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), the exact same water-soluble film used in laundry capsules. The same ingredient their marketing often claims to avoid.
We understand the appeal. Sheets typically come in plastic-free packaging, and that’s a step in the right direction. But the format itself comes with trade-offs.
Unlike liquid-based detergents, sheets aren’t a suspension - which means they’re limited in the types and concentration of ingredients they can carry. The result? Simpler formulas, weaker cleaning performance, and minimal stain removal.
In fact, CHOICE testing in 2024 found that many leading laundry sheets in Australia performed not much better than water.
That didn’t sit right with us.
So we did something about it.
Instead of dismissing the format entirely, we decided to rebuild it properly, creating a sheet that actually delivers on performance. We tested, reformulated, and engineered a version that outperforms the leading Australian brand (tested over 20 different common household stains), while still giving customers the convenience and low-waste format they’re looking for.
But here’s the key: we didn’t create sheets to replace capsules.
Because they serve different purposes.
Capsules are still the most effective format for heavily soiled loads, deeper cleaning, stain removal and full performance delivery. Sheets, when done right, are perfect for lighter washes, smaller loads, and everyday convenience.
So instead of forcing a one-size-fits-all solution, we built a system that actually reflects how people do laundry.
Capsules for the big loads.
Sheets for the small.
Smarter laundry, effortless every day.
What About PVA?
Let’s clear this up.
Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA / PVOH) is the film used to wrap laundry capsules — and yes, it’s also what holds many laundry sheets together.
It’s water-soluble and biodegradable, and has been safely used for years across personal care, medical, and household products. It is not a microplastic and does not persist in the environment in the way many people assume.
There’s a lot of misinformation in this space, so we encourage you to explore the science for yourself. The American Cleaning Institute has published a detailed statement addressing common misconceptions around PVOH.
If you want plastic-free laundry detergent packaging without compromising on clean, there’s finally an option that delivers both.
